MCT stands for Medium Chain Triglycerides, a type of fat often used by those following a keto or low-carb lifestyle. It’s valued for its fast energy potential and versatility.
People choose MCT oil to:
-
Incorporate a quick, clean fat source into meals
-
Complement a ketogenic or low-carb approach
-
Add fuel for mental and physical performance*
-
Support satiety between meals*
*For informational purposes only. Individual results may vary
However, all MCT oils are not equal.

The type of MCT is important as well as the source it is derived from.
- C6: caproic acid or hexanoic aci
- C8: caprylic acid or octanoic acid
- C10: capric acid or decanoic acid
- C12: lauric acid or dodecanoic acid
While all of the C-acids are beneficial, C8 and C10 are thought to be the best in terms of delivering ketosis.

To be more specific:
C8: Caprylic acid
C8 is a medium-chain triglyceride known for its rapid digestion and conversion into energy. It's a popular choice for those following low-carb or keto-focused nutrition plans.
People often choose C8 for its:
-
Fast-acting energy – Easily converted into ketones to support an active lifestyle
-
Keto compatibility – Frequently used in ketogenic protocols and clean eating routines
-
Fuel for focus – Some individuals include C8 as part of their daily mental performance stack*
-
Lifestyle support – Often used to help promote satiety between meals*
-
Clean ingredient profile – Naturally occurring in coconut oil and sought after for its purity.

C10: Capric Acid
C10 is another medium-chain triglyceride that’s efficiently absorbed and used for energy. While slightly slower than C8 in conversion to ketones, it still plays a valuable role in clean, fast fuel support.
People often choose C10 to:
-
Support sustained energy as part of a low-carb or ketogenic lifestyle
-
Enhance daily nutrition with a clean, easily digestible fat source
-
Complement C8 in balanced MCT oil formulations
-
Diversify MCT intake for a broader range of fatty acids
Most high-quality MCT Oils contain only types C8 and C10.
High Octane Organic MCT Oil is C8/C10:
C8: 60%
C10: 40%

MCT oils can be derived from coconuts or a combination of coconut and palm oils. Both provide a great source of MCTs.
However, not all palm kernels are ethically sourced.
Therefore, Strength Genesis will only source from coconut sources.

MCT (medium-chain triglyceride) oil is a stable oil with a relatively long shelf life compared to other oils. Unopened bottles of MCT oil can last up to 2 years from the date of production, provided they are stored properly. Once opened, the oil should be used within 6 to 12 months to maintain its quality and freshness.
To extend the shelf life of MCT oil, it should be stored in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. It's also important to keep the oil in a tightly sealed container to prevent air from getting in, which can lead to oxidation and rancidity.
